Bunbougu Cafe (Stationery Cafe) Tokyo, Japan

Japan has heaps of themed cafes, cats, birds, hello kitty. There's so many I'm sure there's something for everything. On a recent trip to Tokyo, The Coffee Drinker and I decided to go to the Stationery Cafe in Shibuya, it's in a little street behind the main shopping street, not the easiest to find.

First up, Bunbougu Cafe is next to a 7 Eleven in a basement and you arrive at the store part of the cafe at the bottom of the stairs. We didn't realise it before, but they were doing a collab on the day we went, I am unfortunately not familiar with the anime/manga they were doing the collab, but the entire cafe was kit out in the posters and merchandise, even the menu was themed.

What is the draw of the stationery cafe you may ask. It's that they have tables of pens, markers, pencils, various stationery and paper for you to play around with. The highlight is definitely the large collection of copic that you can pick up and try and the cafe provides coasters that you can draw on which I thought was pretty neat. Do remember to return the stationery back to it's original spot after use, if you can't remember, a staff member will be able to help you out.

We only had drinks but they were pretty good and we had fun testing out various pens and copic markers. There was also wall of non themed stationery if you want to browse but because of the collab, the majority of the store only had the collab goods. I'd like to go again when it is 'back to normal'.

Have you been to this cafe? and if not, will you add this to your next Tokyo trip? Let use know in the comments.

5 New Stationery for 2018! Part 2

So last week the tea drinker shared her list for new stationery she bought for 2018, this week i am here to share mine!

1. Maruman Sketch Loose Leaf Paper

Being left handed, i appreciate being able to draw without anything in my way [like the spine of a conventional sketchbook] but being your typical OCD A blood type, i also like filing things so i am quite excited about this.

2. TASU+TECHO

A journal made in conjunction with and sold exclusively at LOFT in Japan. This was a Christmas gift for me and features grid pages as well as re-positionable monthly calendar pages.

3. Clear 6 hole diary

No real reason to be buying this for 2018 except for the fact i find it oh so pretty. Do i really need another reason though?

4. Kokuyo pon!pon! Donut seal stamp

Who remembers those rolls of donut tapes they sold back in the day? Except then the most exciting choices we usually got were white or clear [gasp!] but now...donuts!

5. Rose gold...everything

i'm gone down this rabbit hole a few years back but it really gained steam sometime mid last year ;what with so much being available. Stumbling upon HEDERA's rose gold collection simply sealed the deal for 2018. [Clips from our store here!]

5 New Stationery for 2018!

Happy New Year!

New Year means new notebook and at the same time, new stationery!
Here are 5 new stationery items I picked up in December for 2018!

1. Maruman Puo Notebook System

The most interesting thing about the Puo notebook is that's it's a similar size to a Travelers Notebook insert and there are customisable options. I'll do a proper review in an upcoming blog post.

2. Delfonics Pen Roll

Who else has the same problem as me finding an on the go pen storage solution? I'm currently trying out the Delfonics pen roll. Bonus points for matching my olive TN.

3. Kokuyo Harinacs

Admittedly, this was a bit of n 'ohh pretty' impulse purchase. It's basically a no bullet stapler.

I'll figure out what's special about this one and get back to you. Watch this space.

4. Mindwave Inc Schedule Marker

Pastel is always irresistible, these schedule markers are both pretty and useful. Each colour comes with 2 film and 4 paper markers, a really good idea!

5. Kokuyo Washi Tape Cutter

I am absolutely obsessed with these.

I first saw Kokuyo's new clip type washi tape cutter on instagram and put them on my Japan shopping list. Full review in a upcoming blogpost!

DAISO X Girl's Trend Pastel Marker Pens Set

DAISO Japan has themed up with the popular website Girl's Trend for another collection and this time round it includes a set of pens which has been highly popular.

Swatches below:

Two of the colors are a little darker than the rest but all of them are fairly light and see through. They are very similar to the popular mildliner highlighters except that they are not dual ended. I've swatched them below to show the difference and as you can see, the mildliner is actually a little more opaque.

They are perfect for journaling and at this low price, they are a lovely addition to anyone's collection!

Have any of you tried it? What do you think?

Sunstar HARU & HARU schedule stickers

SUN-STAR has released a series of repositionable schedule stickers called HARU&HARU and I picked up the HOLIDAY range for a review!

Each pack comes with just one sheet which you can separate into 4 smaller sheets to fit in your journal. Each sheet also has a stripe of repositionable tape on it which means you can stick it anywhere in your planner and remove it cleanly to stick elsewhere.

And that's not all! The stickers themselves are also repositionable! This makes them perfect for scheduling if you have plans that change and can then move to them to the updated time/date/location in your planner.

SUN-STAR has marketed these are a first of its kind and I do not believe I have seen them anywhere else either.

What about you? Have you tried these? What did you think? Would you like us to stock it in the store?

Let us know!

DAISO Pop-up film sticky memo

I love using sticky memos and in particular film ones. The shiny smooth surface is one of my favorite surfaces to write on so I always try to hunt this sort of sticky memos down.

Imagine my delight when I found out DAISO had put out a new range of them!

They come in a set of 6 [3 wide, 3 narrow] strips and are encased in a holder to protect them during transport. As a matter of fact, the holder itself is made of a gorgeous glittery clear plastic.

I loved it so much, I bought every single one I could find in the store.

Every single one is gorgeous and there is definitely one that works with any color theme you could possibly think of!

Has anyone tried this? What did you think of it?
