Masking Tape Hacks : Pens/Markers to use with it

One of the most obvious uses for masking tape is use them as labels. However, trying to find a pen or marker suitable for writing on them can be difficult at times. Not to worry, here at TN5C we have done the research so you don't have to. These are the pens we reccomend!

  1. Pilot Multiball pen (Medium tip) - Can be used as a pen for writing or drawing yet you are still able to use it surfaces like glass, cloth and plastic! If you are intending to do a lot of writing on your labels, this is the one to get.

  2. Pilot Multiball pen (Fine tip) - Same as above just a finer tip.

  3. Zebra Marker Superfine / マッキーケア超極細 : A favorite of mine and comes in several other colors as well. The 0.3mm tip is very good for journaling as well eg. writing on film based sticky notes.

  4. Mitsubishi UNI Powerful Name Marker : Also Dual ended. One end is 0.4mm and the other is 0.9mm. Long lasting and waterproof, this is perfect for usage on most things and as expected, it shows up the best on the masking tape.

Have you tried any of these? Or are there others you recommend?

uni Nano Dia color pencil leads

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="2500.0"] Side note: The pencils are from a collaboration between uni Kuru Toga and LOFT. Side note: The pencils are from a collaboration between uni Kuru Toga and LOFT. [/caption]

Love the look of color pencils but really like the erasability of normal pencils? Or better yet, mechanical pencils you never need to sharpen? Well its time to add some color to your life as Japanese stationery brand uni has put out a series of colored pencil leads!

The colors are vibrant and identical to color pencils but they possess the same qualities as a normal pencil. Erasable and fine enough to write with. [0.5mm pencil lead!]

I personally love drawing with these [blue is a common draft color used by many who draw comics] but they are also perfect to add that pop of color in your journals. And if you make a mistake? Just erase it!

Have you tried these out? Are you interested in seeing them in our store?

Fiveday: Multi-Pens/Pencils

Multi Pens are a great way to carry around more colours without adding too many pens in your kit.

These are a few that I have in mine:

  1. Pentel Multi-8:  This isn't a pen but rather 8 coloured pencils in one. There are pre designated slots for the colours depending on what version you buy (ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil version available too) but you can choose to mix it up with refills.
  2. Pilot Hi-Tec-C ColetoThis and the Style Fit are customisable and probably the easiest ones to find in this list. I just love the collaboration pen holders and the refills come in special edition colours too! Most holders hold 4 colours.
  3. Pentel Sliccies: This is my favourite multi pen. I always have one in my planner, I've also lost of a few of these so I stock up whenever I can. I use the 3 coloured pen holder, blue for writing, red for ticking off my to-do list and another colour for special items.
  4. Uni Style Fit: Does a lot of collaborations too and pens come in different thicknesses and colours. Pen holders hold up to 5 colours.
  5. Uni Jet Stream: This isn't customisable but it does have 3 colours, black, blue and red. Perfect if you just need something for writing and the occasional red tick. Incidentally, this is the pen that comes with the Hobonichi as a notebook bonus.

I hope you find this list helpful and if you know of any other cool multi pens, we'd love to hear about them in the comments!
