365日ノート (365 Days NoteBook)

One of my absolute favorite purchases of 2018 was my 365日ノート (365 Days NoteBook). There are many sizes available and as a trial, I purchased it in A6 size. The notebook is fairly thick with 380 sheets of tear off paper and a thick piece of cardboard with a grid print that serves as a writing guide. Each sheet of paper is translucent Japanese paper called, Junpakushi. (which makes the writing guide provided usable simply by placing it under the sheet of paper you want to use.) Despite how thin and delicate the paper might appear to be, it is actually extremely durable. One can use fountain ink or even markers on it without worrying about it seeping through.

I had bought the notebook on advice from someone that I could use it to stamp on and cut the images later. Since the paper is thin, it looks almost invisible when I stick it in my journal. A particularly useful feature when I bring a few pages with me on a road trip to collect any stamps I encounter. (In Japan many areas of interest provide a commemorative stamp one can use.)

Needless to say I recommend this notebook highly and will be looking to buy more from this range soon!

Top 5 items from MUJI for Journal enthusiasts

1. Sticky notes

Aside from the usual post-it like sticky notes, Muji makes some with interesting layouts. Like to-do lists or weekly schedules.

2. Pens, markers, highlighters, pencils, you name it

Whatever you need for writing things down. The gel pens are a particular favorite of mine.

3. Notebooks

MUJI makes a huge assortment of notebooks and comes in both spiral bound and perfect binding [glue bound]. They are also available in blank, lined and grid alongside two types of paper [the premium is only available for some sizes]. The Passport size is a perfect match for the TN passport size.

4. Masking Tape

Dislike the usual cartoony style masking tapes or prefer something a little more simple so as not to deter from your journaling? Muji has you covered.

5. Diaries

I cant possibly talk about things for planners and not mention their diaries. The schedule note is not dated and can be used anytime of the year!

Have you bought any of these? Or are there other things you prefer to buy for your journaling from MUJI? Share them with us in the comments!

My Bullet Journal Setup

I started bullet journaling in February, I was keeping a notebook of sorts but I was craving something a bit more organised. I came across a video on bullet journaling and went to consult the website

For the bullet journal, I bought a Hobonichi cover and a MD paper A5 Notebook (best paper ever) and set it up as per the website. I know some people prefer to use a dot grid notebook but I love a blank page.

The only thing I haven't used is the Index page, the Future log I don't use as much but the Monthly and Daily logs are my absolute go-to, I will have either of those pages open for most of the day. I found that having a sort of dashboard where I can see everything is great for productivity. My time management has improved slightly and I'm getting more things done.

I'm still tweaking the journal to meet my needs; such as creating pages for travel, work, documenting the new stash of washi tape or pens. It's whatever you want it to be, which is what I love about it.

Flip thru the gallery to see some of the accessories I use with the bullet journal.

Any tips? I'd love to know, leave them down in the comments!

Review: Hightide Square Weekly Diary

I was stumped for awhile when I was deciding what diary to buy for 2017. It's such a big decision and I had already bought a different book but I came across this square format diary by Hightide at an art supplies store and I was quite drawn to it.

First things first, the layflat notebook paper is really nice and it comes with a plastic cover (always a good thing for a diary). It measures roughly 11cm by 12cm and weighs roughly 140g, which makes it very pocket/handbag friendly. Also included are 2 string bookmarks, a pen loop (fits the midori brass pen perfectly), a page marker and pockets in the front and back covers.

The diary has a monthly layout, followed by weekly on 2 pages in a vertical format and at the back there are note/address pages.
I'm not fond of the vertical layout usually but this one works. Instead of going by specific times, the layout is done up as morning/afternoon/evening which is good because I don't always have something going on and I like to fill in my own time. There's also lines at the bottom of each day for extra notes and the Saturday and Sunday columns are the same size as the weekday columns which makes sense as there's sometimes more to do on weekends.

I adore everything about this diary, the size, the portability, the paper. The only downside is that it's such a unique size that I have cut things like stickers and notepaper down to fit it in but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Mossery Planner Review

I've been using planners for years and late last year I came across Mossery at a Christmas market. I was intrigued not only because it was very beautiful but it seemed to be quite functional.

I've used one for the first 5 months of this year but my biggest issue with it was that the cover got dirty really easily. So when they released a May-December edition with a new laminated cover, I dove in and got a personalised one with my Instagram handle on it.

I chose the Horizontal Weekly + Plain Notes version. I used a Vertical Weekly previously and felt that because it had the whole day laid out according to time, I was not putting it to good use. The Horizontal Weekly allows more freedom when it comes to allocating time and a lot more space for notes.

Besides the planner section, there's also a monthly overview, yearly overview, information page, blank notepaper (you can choose lined if you'd like) and other cool add ons like a section for inspiration boards and a section for goals/values/purposes. Here, I've used some of the blank notepaper to place these sticker savers from Kanmido, which I then used to keep the custom diary stickers I made using the Hiyori planner sticker printer

My favourite part about this planner is that it has 2 folders built into it which allows me to hold all the sheet-based planner stickers I want. It even comes with a card holder if you want to keep business cards or even instax photos.

I can't go thru my day to day without taking a look at it or noting something down. I used to think it was a bit bulky but it's usefulness outweighs it's disadvantage and I've managed to put everything I need into this planner, a pen even fits nicely into it's spiral ring, I'm so glad they upgraded the cover, it's now the best everyday companion I've ever had.

July - December diaries are still available at Mossery
