Store Update! Sticker Release Paper!

A while ago, we released A5 sticker release paper on our Etsy store. We’re now excited to announce that it is now available in A4 size!

Sticker release paper is a smooth coated paper that allows for the temporary placement of stickers, much like the sticker books of your childhood. So yes, the paper is reusable as much as you want.

We stock double sided paper, which is perfect for a variety of uses which I’ll go into more detail below.

Our A5 sticker release paper can be used in our clear 6 ring binder (pictured above), a 2 ring file, slide it into a folder, slot it into an A5 pocket folder or with some cutting, our sticker folder (currently out of stock, will be back soon!)

You can also create your own mini booklet, or go up a size to A4:

The A4 sticker release paper is very versatile.

Besides some of the same suggestions as the A5 paper such as inserting it into a folder, or using a 2 hole folder, you can also create your own travelers notebook insert! (or we can do it for you, subject to availability, please request a custom item if you do not see it on our store)

We’ve also found that it fits perfectly in our A4 slim compact foldable folder. The folder has 5 pockets and the pages are easily slid in or out for use and the best part is that it is the same size as a Travelers notebook.

Once again, our sticker release paper comes in A5 or A4 size, it is double sided and comes in a set of 10 sheets (20 usable pages!)

Purchase here: Sticker Release Paper , A4 slim folder, A5 6 ring clear binder

Also, our printer friendly A4 Washi sticker paper is back in stock!

Hi-Note, Isesaki, Japan

Ever been on a roadtrip and needed a stationery fix? If your answer is yes, you're part of my tribe. If you're planning a roadtrip in Japan, this information is absolutely for you!

On a recent roadtrip, the coffee drinker entered Hi-Note into the itinerary. Hi-Note is based in Gunma, Japan. They have 2 stores, one in Takasaki and another in Isesaki. We were on our way out of Isesaki so we stopped by that branch.

If you thought city stores were great for stationery, this place will change your mind. This store was massive, just grab a basket and start shopping is my advice. They had everything from pens, notebooks, cards to art materials, folders and washi tape, the list is honestly quite long. They even had stuff that was already sold out in the metropolitan areas, score!

You'll need time because there's so much to look at, we unfortunately didn't have a lot of time but did come away with some cool stuff, all the reviews for those items have gone up or will be coming up so look out for that.

So yes, if you're in Gunma area, definitely stop by and take a look at Hi-Note. Also, how cute is their tagline? 'Change Stationery, Change Life'

Ink Stand, Tokyo, Japan

So you got your custom notebook from Kakimori. What next?

How about some custom ink? No I'm not talking about getting tattoos. Rather, a custom shade of ink for use in fountain pens or glass dip pens.

First of all, you will need an appointment. To do so, visit their website and look here. For those of you who do not read/understand japanese, here is a basic sort of guide.

If there is an orange square next to the slot, it is not available. So in the example above, you can see that 8/25 has an available slot at 12:00. They are only able to take on 4 participants in each time slot but two have already been taken so there are only 2 slots remaining. [Versus 8/22 where there are 4 slots remaining.]

You click on the slot and you will be taken to the next page where you can enter number of participants before entering your contact details on the next page.

Each session is 2500yen and will take around 1.5hrs. Do not worry as the mixing time is just 45mins [u might be done even quicker!] and then you return later to retrieve your custom ink.

On the day of your appointment, arrive around 5mins ahead of time so as to get ready. Some basic english instructions will be available for those who do not speak Japanese. You will be told to choose a base ink and add droplets of ink color you like from the array in front of you to create a custom ink that you like. Take note how many drops of each color you use. If you are unhappy with the result, simply wash out your cup and start again. A glass dip pen is also present for you to test your ink out.

When you are satisfied, present the ink you have made alongside its "recipe" to the staff member. They will attempt to recreate it and if its correct, you will be told to return in 45mins or so to get your bottle of ink!

For those who do not wish to create a custom ink but are interested to buy a bottle ready made, simply pop into Kakimori next door!

Journalize, Hong Kong

When I was researching places to shop in Hong Kong, I came across Journalize

Started by a young stationery lover, the store stocks fountain pens, travelers notebooks and a host of other stationery items. It is a bit out of the way but if you're sick of the big chain stores and would like to look at a personally curated selection of products for the stationery lover, it will definitely be worth the trip!

Also, the little stamp corner is super fun and the interior is cosy so definitely worth a look if you're in Hong Kong.

For me, I consider it the best way to recall and look back on my experiences; good, bad, the usual. But we all know, its harder than one thinks to do that. So to help you get a start on it, here at The Number Five Company we have come up with a brand new insert that will make it easier to document those special moments!
