Review: Deco Rush 2022 Collection

Last year, we reviewed the Deco Rush Renewal [see here] and this year PLUS has added new designs to the collection.

Standard Lineup

Limited Edition Lineup

We have picked up 3 to review!

PLUS has kept the new 2021 renewal packaging; the off white cardboard packaging and new logo.
And each tape dispenser is once again a block colour and the tape design in a simple label.

Here are the swatches [with product numbers]
Note: Since the renewal, they are all 6mm wide

Personally, I am a big fan of DECO Rush for fuss free journal deco. They always feature very usable designs and these new ones are no exceptions. I'm looking forward to using them!
What about you? Have you tried these?

Review: Kamio Piritte Masking Tape

Tape, there's no such thing as too much tape!

There's so much choice when it comes to tape, what makes Kamio's Piritte line of tape different?

The piritte masking tape is described as 'cellophane-like'.

It's clear and matte, which is something you don't see very often.

Each roll of tape is 20mm wide and 4m long. That''s wider than a regular roll but shorter than say, MT tape.

I picked up 2 designs to try out.

The top one is 'otona no zukan' (adult illustration) stationery edition, the bottom one is 'frames story' cafe edition.

Both designs are really pretty, and very usable, and as you can see, does not reflect light which makes it easier to photograph.

The cellophane-like texture is unlike any other tape I've tried before.

I did find it that it warps a bit when you use it, and it's prone to getting caught on other parts of the tape, the longer you unwind it.

However, like washi tape, it comes off of paper easily so it is easily adjustable.

The designs are very usable, I used the cafe ones in this brown layout.

and I cut up the stationery designs for use in my diary, it looks quite seamless here, like I drew the designs myself.

I really like this series, other than the minor annoyances such as the warp, which can be helped by unwinding the tape slowly.

Other designs include sea creatures, musical instructions, even characters such as moomin and peanuts, something to appeal to most people.

Mostly importantly, it photographs nicely, which when taking pictures of your daily journal, is an important trait to have.

What do you think? Would you purchase this tape?

Deco Rush Renewal

There are so many choices of journal decoration out there.
The Deco Rush by plus is one of our favourites, cute designs in a correction tape format.

Plus recently released a renewal of the Deco rush, a simpler packaging with cute and versatile designs.
The new tapes are distinguishable by the off white cardboard packaging and new logo.

Inside, each tape dispenser is a block colour, again with the very aesthetic new logo and the tape design in a simple label.

The renewal tapes are 6mm, which is between what previous tapes have been (anywhere from 4.5 to 10mm)

The size is perfect for planners, small enough to fit in between lines and small squares.

I picked up 6 designs, which is all I could find as they appear to be really popular!
I like how they're all perfect for planners, coffee, car, cat, journalling and game controllers are definitely ones I will use a lot.

Left: 10mm Petit Deco Rush, Right: Deco Rush renewal

The tape fits well in my Midori professional planner.

I'm going to keep my eye out for other designs but since some are limited, it might be difficult.

What are your thoughts on the Deco Rush renewal line?

Review : Kokuyo RAKU HARI double sided tape dispenser

Everyone has probably heard of glue tape dispensers but have you tried a double sided tape dispenser?

Today, I'll tell you about Kokuyo's RAKU HARI double sided tape dispenser!

The principle is pretty basic and similar to the conventional glue tape dispenser. However since it is double sided tape, can you use it with more than just plain paper! Got problems attaching heavy cardstock? Or plastic? How about metal or glass surfaces? This is the tape for you.

And if you are dealing with a large volume of items, this makes it so much easier. There is no need to remove any release paper [as with a conventional roll of double sided tape]. Not only does that mean you can get through your work a lot faster, it will also save your nails from hurting during the process of trying to peel the release paper off. No release paper would also mean there is nothing that needs to be cleared or disposed of.

The dispenser is also refillable (making it cost effective in the long run).
A good addition to anyone's stationery stash.

Review: Fusen Marker by Kanmido

Highlighters, there are a lot of different kinds on the market.
This new release is a highlighter but with one difference, it's not a pen.

The Kanmido fusen marker is highlighter in tape form.
I was very intrigued when it came out and I decided to pick it up.
It comes in many colours like pink, grey, striped and of course, the standard highlighter yellow, there's also a version for studying/memorising.

First impressions, the packaging is aesthetically pleasing and compact.
The tape dispenser and small and flat, similar to a correction tape dispenser.

The instructions are neatly tucked into the packaging.

How to use the tape? It's not as straightforward as using a correction tape dispenser.

It can be a bit tedious.
1. Pull the tape out of the dispenser
2. Align it to the text
3. 'highlight' whilst still holding on to the end of the tape
4. Angle the dispenser to cut the tape

The process can be pretty annoying if you have a lot of text to highlight or if you're using it for an extended period of time.

So why should you buy this fusen highlighter?

It's removable.

Should you buy it?
Yes if the removable feature is important to you.
Otherwise, it would be too much effort to use this fusen highlighter, buying a pen highlighter would be preferable.

REVIEW : PetaPeta watercolor tape

Tired of your usual stickers or washi tape? How about something a little different? Today, I'm going to review the watercolor tapes by PetaPeta.

Each roll has several different shapes and peel off the main roll of release paper easily. They also come in gorgeous vivid colors, which when placed on paper, create a watercolor look.

They are a little translucent but not quite like washi tape. If i had to give an example, i would say they are close to vellum paper. Adds a gorgeous shot of color to journals and gift wrapping. You can write on them with a marker or fast drying ball point pen! Or trying layering them for a different look! The possibilities are endless!
Have you tried these? What do you think of them?

Review: Dear Kitchen Tape Cutter by Nichiban

I use stationery in every part of my life, especially the kitchen.
Labelling is such an important part of organising a kitchen.

I've always used washi tape to label but I recently discovered this line of 'Dear Kitchen' tape by Nichiban.

There are a number of different items in this line.
I purchased the tape cutter and another roll of tape with it's own magnet holder.

First up, the tape cutter also includes a magnet and it is much stronger than the smaller magnet.

You don't really need the tape cutter, the tape can just as easily be torn by hand much like washi tape.

The tape cutter does mean tearing tape with one hand is fuss free with the addition of a slanted blade.

Also, I hear you asking, how is it different from washi tape?

It's plastic instead of paper which means it is more water resistant and will last longer.
However, this means that water based pens will not work with the tape, the best pen to use is a permanent marker.

Overall, it's a great addition to any kitchen.
Easy to use, easy to write and looks great, it even comes in an array of different designs.

I know I could use a labeller and I do own one but writing on tape is so much more convenient.

Do you prefer tape or labels?

Bonus, it has a notch for you to attach your pen. They've thought of everything!

Nichiban Tenori Ichioshi Glue Tape

If you are like me, you must love the glue tape invention. Its a lot easier to use, less mess and quick to dry. Even better for scrapbookers, most of them are acid free as well.

The only issue i have with them? I'm left handed and the kind where you roll across the page makes it difficult for me to use. Thankfully many brands have started making the ones you stamp down on. Perfect for left or right handers. (I mean you can use your forehead to push on it if you are so inclined. #justsaying )

I purchased two of them from my local stationary store.

As you can see above, you stamp them down to get a dot grid of sticky tape.

Size comparison above with other similar products available in Japan. This is the smallest by far. Good for traveling with.

Some general details. 3 of the colors are limited edition colors as well.

Which is your favourite glue tape?

Do share it with us in the comments!

Daiso Finds!

I love going to a Daiso store, they don't always carry the same things and products are not always repeated, which makes shopping there like a little treasure hunt sometimes.

These are the gems I found for any notebook enthusiast:

  1. Schedule Stickers: These little stickers are so sweet. They're perfect for a hobonichi, diary or even a TN planner.
  2. Template Ruler: This is great for sketching, or a bullet journal. Comes in circles as well.
  3. Vintage Accessories: This collection is quite big, these page markers are the more notebook friendly pieces but there are also items for DIY like handles for mini drawers.
  4. Index Stickers: Part of a larger collection including notebooks, I love how there are 12 sheets of 8 stickers, and how cute are the hedgehogs!
  5. Decoration Tape: Comes in many designs but I especially love this vintage travel stamps design.

I'll be featuring and using some of these items in my planner and putting it on our instagram this whole week. Don't forget to follow us!
