Review: Monami Color Twin Brush

Monami is a Korean stationery company, they make pens, artist supplies and office supplies.
I've reviewed their live color DIY pens previously and loved them so when I saw these brush pens, I had to pick them up, it certainly helped that they were on sale too.

There are 3 sets to choose from, each with an array of beautiful colours.

First, each pen has brushes on both ends, which is different from most brush pens, which has a brush on one end and a fine tip marker on the other.
The end with the pen's colour indicated has the bigger brush and the other end is a smaller brush.

Initial impressions are that the brushes are quite pliable, even more so than the Tombow brush pen.
The colours are very pigmented, bright and they flow easily.

The 'Sea' set has 4 blue, 1 blue green and 1 grey.

The 'Flower' set has 1 yellow, 1 orange, 1 beige, 2 pinks and 1 red.

The 'Forest' set has 3 greens,  1 teal, 1 brown and 1 black.

I found the brushes to be too soft for my liking but that's a personal choice.
These pens would be great for colouring and projects that require pigmented pens.

Overall, a great set to pick up if you see it and need some more colours to use, not totally unique but still great!

Review: Staedtler Double Ended Lettering Pens

We sure do love our pens, especially when they go on sale!

I picked up this set last year and they've sat unused so I decided to put them to the test.

This set is 12 colours and they are double ended.
One end is a brush pen, the other is a simple felt tip.

True to Staedtler's reputation, the pens are great for beginners and easy to use.
The brush is pliable but firm enough for people starting out with a brush pen and the colours are rich and pigmented.
I especially like the Magenta colour, isn't it striking.

The felt tips are basic but usable and complement the brush tips well.

If I had one criticism, it would be that the construction of the pen is not the best. The plastic is slightly frayed in places and there appears to be glue residue in some places.

Overall, it is a great first set for someone wanted a brush lettering pen but not wanting to invest in say the Tombow brush pens.
If you see this on sale, snap it up!

REVIEW : PetaPeta watercolor tape

Tired of your usual stickers or washi tape? How about something a little different? Today, I'm going to review the watercolor tapes by PetaPeta.

Each roll has several different shapes and peel off the main roll of release paper easily. They also come in gorgeous vivid colors, which when placed on paper, create a watercolor look.

They are a little translucent but not quite like washi tape. If i had to give an example, i would say they are close to vellum paper. Adds a gorgeous shot of color to journals and gift wrapping. You can write on them with a marker or fast drying ball point pen! Or trying layering them for a different look! The possibilities are endless!
Have you tried these? What do you think of them?

Paperchase Padfolio

Stationery shopping is one of the best things about travelling.

I went to London for work last year and picked up this padfolio notebook in blue from Paperchase.
I thought the format was refreshing and the colour scheme (neon orange interior) was cute.

I never expected to use it as much as I did.

The idea is quite simple, in the front of the notebook there was a clipboard/folio.
Inside, there is a  tearaway pad of paper and a pocket to store loose sheets.

It's perfect for quick notes or if you don't have space for an open notebook.

I use it mostly for random lists and to dos.

My one criticism of the blue padfolio is that the cover slopes down at an angle.
It's not a major flaw but can make writing a bit difficult.

This year I travelled to London for work again and picked up 2 new padfolios.

This time they had thinner spines and laid flat.
Very aesthetically pleasing I have to say.

The pink one had a plain paper pad, 2 types of adhesive notes and a cardboard pocket.
Isn't the colour scheme so pretty!

The second one is a simpler and the notepad is lined.
I like the grey kraft material of the cover.

This one currently holds my to do list.

It doesn't take up a lot of space and it's easy to reference.

You might be thinking that a normal clipboard would serve the same purpose but I like the feel of a notebook and it's always a good thing to carry extra paper around!

What do you think? Is this something you might buy?

Multi Use Pens : PILOT Acroball White Line, 3M and Paperchase

As a stationery addict, I have always wished I could bring my entire collection with me no matter where I go. Alas, the bottomless bag has yet to be invented so what does one do?

The solution? Multi use pens!
There are many available but as an example, we will look at 3 which I own!
From left: PILOT Acroball White Line, 3M Post It Highlighter pen, Paperchase sticky notes double ended pen.

Maker: 3M
Usages : One end has Post-it tabs and the other is a Highlighter

 Maker: Paperchase
Usages : One end has a ball point pen and the other is a Highlighter. The cap covering the highlighter also dispenses sticky film tabs!

Maker: PILOT
Product Name: Acroball White Line
Usages : One end has correction tape and the other is a 3-color pen which changes as you turn the middle of pen to the corresponding color marked (Blue, Black, White). The pens and tape are refillable!

Personally, I use the Acroball a lot and is something I bring out with me quite often as I do not have as much to highlight. Have you tried any of these? Or do you have one to recommend?

New Pentel Sign Pen Colours!

I'm always excited when brands release new colours for existing product lines.

Pentel recently released 12 new colours for their sign pens.

Here in Singapore, Pentel ran a promotion where a purchase of all 12 of the sign pens, they would gift a limited edition pen roll.

I of course bought all 12.

The colours are all so pretty, a great addition to the existing sign pen collection.
The pen roll fits all the pens perfectly too.

What are you waiting for, go run out and get them!

Review : SEED Color Correction Tape

Just when I thought correction tape was pretty much all the same, Japanese stationery brand puts out COLOR correction tape. Available in 6 colors, I picked up 3 of the ones I figured I would most likely use.

From left : pink, kraft and black

They work pretty much exactly the same as their white-out counterparts; dispensing opaque tape but with color.

One of the most obvious uses is to cover up writing mistakes but now you can use it on non white backgrounds to further hide your mistakes! The kraft one works wonderfully on...kraft paper. XD

Another excellent use in your journal would be as a highlighter or fusen whereby you can write on top of the surface with any pen you have. Makes for a wonderful pop of color!
The official website also suggests one can use it in giftwrapping, decorating, scrapbooking etc!
Have you come across these tapes? What have you been using them for?

Review: Dear Kitchen Tape Cutter by Nichiban

I use stationery in every part of my life, especially the kitchen.
Labelling is such an important part of organising a kitchen.

I've always used washi tape to label but I recently discovered this line of 'Dear Kitchen' tape by Nichiban.

There are a number of different items in this line.
I purchased the tape cutter and another roll of tape with it's own magnet holder.

First up, the tape cutter also includes a magnet and it is much stronger than the smaller magnet.

You don't really need the tape cutter, the tape can just as easily be torn by hand much like washi tape.

The tape cutter does mean tearing tape with one hand is fuss free with the addition of a slanted blade.

Also, I hear you asking, how is it different from washi tape?

It's plastic instead of paper which means it is more water resistant and will last longer.
However, this means that water based pens will not work with the tape, the best pen to use is a permanent marker.

Overall, it's a great addition to any kitchen.
Easy to use, easy to write and looks great, it even comes in an array of different designs.

I know I could use a labeller and I do own one but writing on tape is so much more convenient.

Do you prefer tape or labels?

Bonus, it has a notch for you to attach your pen. They've thought of everything!
