Review :Mini Book Gashapon Popular Stationery Mook Collection

Mooks are a popular item found in Japanese book stores. The word is a combination of Magazine and Book. They usually come with a fairly luxurious supplement which is the main reason why people buy them.

Recently, miniatures of the popular stationery series from Takarajimasha's Mook book has been released. Since we are interested in all things stationery, we had to pick one up for a look.
Here's what we got:
A miniature version of the "Croquis Book" A4 Multi-Case MOOK

Like the original mook, it comes with a box that contains the extra as well as a thin book detailing the history of the product and other information.
The tiny book actually contains the same pages as the original item!

Unfortuantely, the special extra which is an "A4 multi-case" from the real size mook has not been reproduced. Instead we get a plastic reproduction that does not open up.
However, it looks just like a croquis book and features cute cat illustrations by popular illustrator Midori Asano. [like the original]

Here is the full lineup.

As someone who loves miniatures and stationery, I bought it almost immediately.
I look forward to buying the rest of the collection.

Zebra Delguard Mechanical Pencil: Moomin Edition

I love the moomin series so I was pleased to see this collab from Zebra.

The series has 6 colours but the clear one was the only one left when I spotted it.

To be honest, I think it's the prettiest one.

Delguard is a mechanical pencil so it's pretty straighforward.

Let's talk about the aesthetics.

Moomin fans will love this, the clear body of the pencil with the neutral-ness of the Moomin graphics is very pleasing.

The pencil takes 0.5mm lead and is nice to hold and use.

If you like Moomin, you should look out for this.

Review: Oitoco Sticky notes case

I love thin film fusen [sticky notes] over highlighting a book. However, though its small and easy to store, they end up getting dirty or damaged in my pen case.
I have tried storing them inside pockets in my diary or folder but it can be a bit troublesome to fish them out to use.

Recently, Oitoco released a case just for storing them~

The design is simple and sleek.
Case size: W19 x D11 X H114mm
It is shorter than a standard pen and will fit in a pencil case easily.

Since its quite long, you can fit two types next to each other [as shown in picture]
Max size of sticky notes it can fit : 9mm x 50mm with a max thickness of 1.5mm
A simple and effective solution to the problem I have been having.

Review: Daiso Chopitto Stickers

Daiso makes great stickers.
This is their chopitto line of compact journal stickers.

Each set is colour and design themed.
It comes in a little card sized sleeve and there are 5 sheets of 15 stickers each.

The little card sleeves are also decorated which makes telling them apart easy.

I picked up the cat, bear and panda themed sets.
The bear set was themed towards homework and studies, perfect for students.
The cat set was themed towards leisure such a cafe and games and the panda set was themed towards cheering or encouragement.

I love the pastel colours chosen for the sets, it's very on trend with a lot of pastels we're seeing this year.

All the stickers are round and easy to peel, the small size is great for journals and diaries or even as little notes.

These are a great item to pick up from Daiso to use in your journal, especially if you're someone that journals on the move.

What do you think, do you like these stickers from Daiso?

Review: MUJI Sticky Pocket Post Card Size

How do you store all your paraphernalia for your diary?

I'm talking about tickets from travel or even just receipts in day to day life which you might want to document in your diary as well. A few brands including MIDORI has released an extra pocket which you can stick in your diary but its often too small.

Recently I came across this in MUJI and I think its perfect!

Size: Post card Size [14.8 x 10cm]

Its made of vinyl so its waterproof and can protect your items.

There is a lot of storage, ranging from postcard size to namecard pockets [x2]

And it comes with a sticky back and is ready for sticking into your diary or folder!
The possibilities are endless.

What do you think? Is this something you would use?

Review: Sunstar Ninipie Deco

I've tried a few different types of highlighters over the years but this is the first to combine a thick pen tip with a thin pen tip.
The ninipie deco by Sunstar is solving the problem of having to carry too many pens around.

The most interesting thing is that to have pen tips of different thicknesses, the thin pen tip is at at angle, which a is bit unnatural for writing.

This highlighter might take a bit of practise to get used to.
I found it a little uncomfortable to use, it felt like something was in the way when I tried to use either pen tip. However, the ink and pen tips were smooth and other than the slight uncomfortable angle, if you can get used to it, is a great tool to have.

Overall, the colours are really pretty, I think the trend of the pastel highlighters instead of neon colours is great and easy on the eyes.
Would I keep using it though? I don't tend to carry pens around as I work from home so this product isn't for me but if you're a student or someone who needs to keep your pen storage light, this is right up your alley.

Review: Vaimo11 Stapler 11th Anniversary Set

As an office worker, my office stationery has to be practical and easy to use.
I've been using the Vaimo11 stapler for many years, and it is my favourite stapler ever.

1. It's sleek, one of the best looking staplers ever.
2. It's easy to refill (remember staplers that would snap at your fingers when you tried to refill?)
3. It can staple up to 40 sheets of paper, perfect for those never ending reports.
4. It uses no.11 stamples, solid and never fails.

I haven't needed to replace my white Vaimo11 stapler in all this time that I've owned it, but I came across the 11th Anniversary set on sale and decided to pick it up.

The Anniversary set is a collaboration with a Japanese paper brand, Box & Needle
It comes in 3 colour ways, but I only came across the green x grey variant so that's what I purchased.

It includes a DIY box in a pattern designed by Aoi Huber, a stapler inspired by the pattern's colour scheme and staples.

I love the theme of the box, the green and grey of the stapler is so fresh and the colours all compliment each other.
The box is easy to assemble, there's instructions on the back of the packaging but it's pre cut and pre scored so all you have to do it fold and staple!

The stapler and staples fit perfectly into the box, such a cute desk accessory.

If you come across the set, I highly recommend it.
But if the colour isn't for you and you need a stapler, the Vaimo11 comes in many colours, I recommend you pick this as your trusty office stapler.

Review: Daiso Marker Sticky Notes Roll

I love a highlighter, I always need something to help me point out important text and information.

I've used everything from a highlighter, to rulers that have a neon yellow window, to various tapes but this marker sticky notes tape by Daiso is really interesting.

It's probably one of the few ways to highlight text that is not permanent, that I've seen anyway.

I picked up 2 colours, Dusty Rose and Lavender Haze, very pretty pastels.
Each roll is 6mm wide by 5m long and material is polypropylene.

I think the colours are great, they really stand out and are not too jarring to look at.
However, the opacity leaves something to be desired. The text turns out more cloudy and less defined, layering the tape deepens the colour but makes the clarity situation worse.

Overall, I think this a good product, the non-permanent use outweighs it's weaknesses.
This would be useful for library books or for books that you might want to sell later on, i.e textbooks.

What do you think? Is this a product you might be interested in?

Review: Pilot Frixion Waai Ballpen Set

I'm always on the hunt for coloured pens.
The colours on this set from Pilot's frixion line looked good.

It's called Waai, it's the stylish version of the frixion line and the pen colours have romantic names to match.

The set has 8 colours, each pen is 0.5mm.
The colours are black, velvet red, turqouise, sand beige, dry peach, cheek pink, chilly blue and mini gray.

The colours are really pretty. If you don't want to buy a set, I recommend getting sand beige, chilly blue and mini gray.

The design of the pen is very stylish and if you're looking for a certain aesthetic, these will fit into your collection well.

When it comes to the writing, frixion is a very consistent good quality pen.
The erasing feature is second to none.

So if you love frixion and always wanted a more stylish version, the Waai line is for you.
