Bunbougu Cafe (Stationery Cafe) Tokyo, Japan

Japan has heaps of themed cafes, cats, birds, hello kitty. There's so many I'm sure there's something for everything. On a recent trip to Tokyo, The Coffee Drinker and I decided to go to the Stationery Cafe in Shibuya, it's in a little street behind the main shopping street, not the easiest to find.

First up, Bunbougu Cafe is next to a 7 Eleven in a basement and you arrive at the store part of the cafe at the bottom of the stairs. We didn't realise it before, but they were doing a collab on the day we went, I am unfortunately not familiar with the anime/manga they were doing the collab, but the entire cafe was kit out in the posters and merchandise, even the menu was themed.

What is the draw of the stationery cafe you may ask. It's that they have tables of pens, markers, pencils, various stationery and paper for you to play around with. The highlight is definitely the large collection of copic that you can pick up and try and the cafe provides coasters that you can draw on which I thought was pretty neat. Do remember to return the stationery back to it's original spot after use, if you can't remember, a staff member will be able to help you out.

We only had drinks but they were pretty good and we had fun testing out various pens and copic markers. There was also wall of non themed stationery if you want to browse but because of the collab, the majority of the store only had the collab goods. I'd like to go again when it is 'back to normal'.

Have you been to this cafe? and if not, will you add this to your next Tokyo trip? Let use know in the comments.

5 New Stationery for 2018! Part 2

So last week the tea drinker shared her list for new stationery she bought for 2018, this week i am here to share mine!

1. Maruman Sketch Loose Leaf Paper

Being left handed, i appreciate being able to draw without anything in my way [like the spine of a conventional sketchbook] but being your typical OCD A blood type, i also like filing things so i am quite excited about this.

2. TASU+TECHO

A journal made in conjunction with and sold exclusively at LOFT in Japan. This was a Christmas gift for me and features grid pages as well as re-positionable monthly calendar pages.

3. Clear 6 hole diary

No real reason to be buying this for 2018 except for the fact i find it oh so pretty. Do i really need another reason though?

4. Kokuyo pon!pon! Donut seal stamp

Who remembers those rolls of donut tapes they sold back in the day? Except then the most exciting choices we usually got were white or clear [gasp!] but now...donuts!

5. Rose gold...everything

i'm gone down this rabbit hole a few years back but it really gained steam sometime mid last year ;what with so much being available. Stumbling upon HEDERA's rose gold collection simply sealed the deal for 2018. [Clips from our store here!]

5 New Stationery for 2018!

Happy New Year!

New Year means new notebook and at the same time, new stationery!
Here are 5 new stationery items I picked up in December for 2018!

1. Maruman Puo Notebook System

The most interesting thing about the Puo notebook is that's it's a similar size to a Travelers Notebook insert and there are customisable options. I'll do a proper review in an upcoming blog post.

2. Delfonics Pen Roll

Who else has the same problem as me finding an on the go pen storage solution? I'm currently trying out the Delfonics pen roll. Bonus points for matching my olive TN.

3. Kokuyo Harinacs

Admittedly, this was a bit of n 'ohh pretty' impulse purchase. It's basically a no bullet stapler.

I'll figure out what's special about this one and get back to you. Watch this space.

4. Mindwave Inc Schedule Marker

Pastel is always irresistible, these schedule markers are both pretty and useful. Each colour comes with 2 film and 4 paper markers, a really good idea!

5. Kokuyo Washi Tape Cutter

I am absolutely obsessed with these.

I first saw Kokuyo's new clip type washi tape cutter on instagram and put them on my Japan shopping list. Full review in a upcoming blogpost!
