HOW TO: Print mini polaroids using your smartphone

Last week I shared how to print a photo collage using the MOLDIV app on your phone. This week I'm expanding on that and sharing how to print mini polaroids using the same APP. They are not real polaroids of course but they definitely look cute. Perfect for journaling!

This tutorial assumes you already learnt how to use the MOLDIV app. If you don't know how to use it, please refer to this blog post.

Ok here we go. First choose the layout below.

Next we adjust the settings

I set it to around 70 but you can play around with it if you wish.

Next we fill it with pictures.

You can save it and get it printed at a commercial print store.

Or use Airprint if you own your own photo printer

After you get your print, you have to cut it to shape. You can use a xacto knife with a ruler or a paper cutter like me.

Here are the cutting guidelines [in red] below.

And viola! Cute little polaroids! Great for your travelers notebook or even as decoration. These would be perfect in our latest insert (available at our store here) too!

What will you be doing with these?

HOW TO: Photo Collaging on your smart phone using Moldiv

Smartphones have made life a lot easier for many of us in our daily lives and it is certainly no exception when it comes to journaling. I am often asked how I manage to get small photos printed for usage in my TN so I've decided to share how I do it with you.

First of all,I use an APP called MOLDIV. Its free to download in the AppStore. (I use an Iphone so I am only able to share how I do it on one for now.)

Once downloaded, open it and choose the COLLAGE option.

You will be presented with many free collage layouts.

Pick the collage you want. In this case I am using the one where there will be 4 pictures put together.

Before you do anything, click on FRAME ADJUST.

Using the scroll bars, adjust the size to 3:2. This will then print into a standard 4R photo [4X6] nicely later on.

You can play with the other scrollbars if you prefer a border or shadow. I don't so I set it all to zero.

When you are done, you can return to the previous screen [tap anywhere on the screen] Now tap on one of the frames and choose ALBUMS.

It will open your CAMERA ROLL [or whichever album folder on your phone].

Here you can choose which photo goes into the frames

When you are done and satisfied with how it looks, click the button with a tick in it.

This will be the picture collage you have created.

You can add text using the Aa button or stickers using the heart button. When you are happy with it, choose the button on the most right side of the screen. [save button]

It will be saved to your camera roll. Here you can choose to print it directly [if you have a printer with airprint functionality. I'll talk about this next time] or send it to a commercial photo printing store [online or offline]

When it is printed, you can cut it into size [quarters in this case] and viola! small pictures perfect for embellishment and journaling in your TN!

Hope this is clear enough. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Why do you journal?

For me, I consider it the best way to recall and look back on my experiences; good, bad, the usual. But we all know, its harder than one thinks to do that. Decorate it with our specially designed stickers and some themed masking tape. Clips that resemble polaroids help you to keep all those extra bits and pieces in check. We even threw in a camera charm for your journal so that you will always be reminded to take more photos! Doesn't it make you want to get started?

Log On, Hong Kong

My favourite store to visit when I'm in Hong Kong is Log on. Its stores have a stationery section, collectibles, makeup, bags and a lot of interesting products that will have you browsing for a while. It's a good place to stop and take a break and do a bit of present shopping.

My aim this trip was to purchase a Manual Factory bear. Manual Factory is a customisable gift section of Log On that is only available in 2 of its stores (Harbour City and Festival Walk). There are a range of products you can choose from to have customised, items such as powerbanks to pencil cases can all be engraved, embossed, ironed one to create an intimate present for your loved ones, or you know, for yourself.  Most of the services are free when you buy a product.

Unfortunately, the machines that are used for embossing the leather apron of the bear were sent away for servicing so I was unable to have it customised but I bought one anyway. I'm still trying to decide what I would have had embossed on it so it was probably a good thing the machines were not available.

Do you own a Manual Factory bear? What did you emboss on yours?

October Printable

Our October printable is here! It's inspired by watercolour, succulents and summer!

I'm using it to plan an upcoming trip. What will you use yours for?

Unlike previous printables, there are no lines to cut around but we do recommend you leave a white border around the watercolour circle when you cut to best showcase the colour.
